What is a wave spring ?

Wave spring is a spring made from coil flat wire with waves added to give it a spring effect. Wave springs can provide lower work heights with the same force. This not only provides for space savings, but also smaller assemblies that use less materials, hence lower production costs.

Advantage of Flat Wire Wave Springs

  • Axial space can be reduced by up to 50%. As a result, the overall size of the assembly becomes smaller, reducing weight and production cost.
  • Same force and deflection as ordinary coil or compression springs.
  • Wave spring offers “cling in bore” and “cling on shaft” for the optional.
  • Wave spring is fixed and centered by itself.
  • Unlimited range of forces could be created by using the factors wire size, wire form, number of turns, turn configuration, number of waves and wave form.
