Bearing are parts of machinery. that supports the movement of the shaft to work precisely in both the radial and axial directions. Its main function is to support weight and transfer the force generated from the shaft down to various equipment of rotating machinery. It also reduces friction or stiffness during the rotation of other parts. In order for the shaft to rotate efficiently, it can be replaced when it is worn or damaged. Bearings can be divided into 2 main types:
- Plain bearings have a hollow cylindrical shape. It has a rotating axis inside the part of the spindle or shaft that rotates inside the bearing called a journal. The hollow cylindrical shape is called a journal. Journal bearings may be made of metal. A mixture of metal or plastic that is softer than journals.
- Rolling bearings consist of a device that helps rotate between the inner and outer rings, such as ball bearings made of solid metal. May be round like a ball.
